What's the Java version that works better with Bi Server 5.0 ?
I'm a bit confused due to Pentaho documentation:
* supported_components.pdf, referenced from installation documents (install_manual.pd and install_ziptar.pdf) as supported technologies list states that Pentaho works with
Tomcat 6.0.x
[COLOR=#000000][FONT=Menlo]JRE/JDK 1.7
Tomcat 6.0 specifications say that it works with Java 5.0 and later. So, Java 5, 6 and 7 are fine from the Tomcat perspective.
* wiki (http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/Serv...ronment+in+5.0) explains how to set up an environment to build and debug Pentaho Bi Server 5.0. It states that
The Pentaho BI Platform is built and tested against Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.5, though JDK 1.6 seems to work just as well.
* I've installed Bi Server 5.0 with Java 1.6 on Debian and it works good so far, but most tutorials I've reviewed on web use Java 1.7 .
So, what's the best Java version to use with Pentaho BI Server 5.0, Java 1.5, 1.6 or 1.7 ?
