Report Designer Standards

Hi ,
We have choose Pentaho for buldign the new Reporting platform for portal. I am looking for standards/guidlines for using the Pentaho report designer ,PDI etc .

Idea is to use the PRD and PDI outof box features and getting limited use of any customization/non-out of fox features like beanshell ,scripting etc.
