How to add parameters to the data sources via Pentaho User Console

I am creating a new data source from the Pentaho User Console. After creating the connection, I constructed the SQL Query. I wanted this query to be parameterized so that I can pass the value via the prompts from the dashboard.

I am getting stared with Pentaho and was wondering how to do this
