I am in the process of setting up user security within Pentaho..If you are able to, please answer the following questions:
1. In the Enterprise Console, I do know the area to set up users and their roles..currently I am seeing the following roles in the Administration area: Admins, Authenticated, cto, dev..just to name a few. But my question is where do I go to setup what these roles can do (or what they have access to)?
2. In reading the Pentaho BI Platform Security Guide, on page 7, under Authentication, it mentions that "Pentaho Security data access object is a custom Hibernate-based user/password DAO that reads and writes usernames, passwords, and roles to a relational database via Hibernate object-relational mapping".
Then it mentions in the paragraph underneath about switching to LDAP. Is is advisable or do you need to switch to LDAP, or could you set up all your users with this hibernate-based?
3. On page 10 of the Pentaho BI Platform Security Guide, it mentions that "LDAP-related configuration options in the Pentaho Enterprise Console are strictly for BI server support and cannot be used to manage LDAP for the Pentaho Data Integration server" ...could someone please explain ...if we choose to go with LDAP on the data integration server, do we also need to go with it on the BI Server?
4. On the Enterprise Console, in Administration, where I have my users listed...when I select one of their user ids..on the details area I do not see the password associated with it...I did sign on this as an administrator..why would the passwords not show?
Thank you
