I'm new in Pentaho world and I started exploring BIServer-CE v.5.4.

Trying to create an Analyzer/Intercative Report I cannot find related item in the Create New menu.
What's missed?

I have been working on getting Pentaho BI server installed using mysql as the database.

I am attempting to install Pentaho BIServer CE 6.0.1.0 dist 386 (biserver-ce-6.0.1.0-386.zip from sourceforge.net).

My system information:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2 (Maipo) (Linux 3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 29 17:29:29 EDT 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
MySQL Server version: 5.7.11-log MySQL Community Server
Java version "1.8.0_74"; Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_74-b02); Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.74-b02, mixed mode).
Apache Tomcat 7.0.54

I have verified that MySQL JDBC connector is installed, configured and working correctly. I have tried running the container under Java SE 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 all fail with the same error. I reviewed the javadocs and could not locate the method being called by class throwing the NoSuchMethodError.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've been banging my head against this problem for a couple days now. We are in the process of upgrading from Pentaho 5 to Pentaho 6 and we use MSSQL for hibernate, jackrabbit, and quartz databases.

I have followed this guide: https://help.pentaho.com/Documentati...F0/0P0/030/040 to switch from postgres to MSSQL, but it never works. As soon as I switch all the necessary files, Pentaho refuses to start up.

I've gone through this process about 10 times and I don't think I've missed a file. I have checked that I have the sqlserver driver in the tomcat/lib folder, dropped and recreated all databases, checked that all MSSQL ports are open and programs can communicate with MSSQL, attempted to delete the file in conf/catalina/localhost (but it has not been populated there yet), and deleted all cache from the karaf directory. Is there anything I could possibly be missing? I can provide additional details or more logs if desired, thank you.

I want to automatically clear out the CDA-catch, instead of doing manually every time.I changed the diskExpiryThreadIntervalSeconds property in ecatch.xml file but no luck.

This is a quite short report. With larger reports it takes several minutes, but only some seconds with PRD.

Sometimes I can see some errors about springframework saying that something failed loading the report in the logs, but this is generated correctly.

Can this be improved by changing or setting anything?

My users want to save a public report in their personal folders with specific parameters that apply to them. Is it possible to do this? I tried going through PRD's attributes and PUC attributes, but the Save As option on a report is always grayed out. Am I missing something?

Saiku new version requires a license to work. I have installed 3.8.7 CE version and I have created a license choosing Community Edition, but when I try to start Saiku, it says that the license is not correct for that version.

Hi I started with BI server 3.8.0 stable. When I want to add a new source database, I put the values and connect correctly to my DB2 source, after that I define the SQL command correctly too(I see the preview ok), but later I press the Finish button the system gives me an error: an error as encountered while saving the model file. check your server logs for details. Why appears this error? I have to configure anythings else? Where are he server log? Please help to fix this, thanks

I had cloned pentaho-platform from github. Been trying to build the source code.
Other projects got build successful, but when trying to build the pentaho-user-console, I got failed.

I have downloaded pentaho-platform 5.4 branch, and when trying to build it using
ant clean-all resolve create-dot-classpath publish-local, I've got this on console:

Please help me figure out how to build this one.

Believe it or not, I actually have 35 years in the computer industry ... and can install a Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP stack in my sleep (installed my first Linux server in '95) ... I've got both Linux and Windows servers available to me as well as my windows desktoop ... although both that I would be inclined to use already have a webserver installed ... PHP on Linux, ASPx/IIS on Windows.

I downloaded the manual and was greeted with a WAR file ... I had never heard of a WAR file before ... so that didn't help a lot. A quick google and I found out that it was a compressed file that could be extracted with 7-Zip ... and I had 7-Zip installed on my workstation ... so that was fairly easy ... but even with Java installed on the windows server, I couldn't get jsp pages to show me anything. (I told you it was a newbie question!)

So now that I feel like a freshman in University again ... can someone please point me to a fairly straightforward guide to getting a Java server up and running so I can read the manual ... even better would be a guide that gets pentaho up and running itself ...

Alternately a VirtualBox installation of the 6.0.1 community edition would be a solution that I would be very open to using ... as the data I'm working with is mostly spreadsheets that need to be pulled together in a consistent way periodically (quarterly or less) ... so I don't even need the server running constantly. My comfort zone would be a CentOS or RedHat 6.x OS ... or Windows ... but then there is the implicit need for a Windows License ... I just haven't moved up to the new file layout in 7.x (old school and proud of it!)! ;-)
